Holding an outdoor exercise class

We allow outdoor exercise classes to take place on many of our open spaces, allowing exercise in the great outdoors.

Providers wishing to hold an outdoor exercise class will require a licence to operate classes on any of Poole's open spaces or beaches.

Before a licence is granted, you need to provide the documents below:

  • Public Liability Insurance (£5 million as a minimum)
  • Risk Assessment
  • instructor certificates
  • DBS Certificate if working with under 18s
  • First Aid qualification

A licence fee is applicable and is charged at £100 per weekly session for a 12 month period. Therefore, if a provider wishes to hold 1 class per week, the cost would be £100 for the year, if 2 classes, £200 and so on.

To apply, please call us on 01202 261306.

Licensed operators

The licensed outdoor exercise providers who have our permission to operate are:

Unlicensed operators

Anyone who is running an outdoor fitness session on one of Poole's open spaces without our permission may not be suitably insured or qualified to do so.

If a member of the public is injured negligently by the actions of an unlicensed trainer and that trainer does not have public liability insurance, it is very unlikely that they will have the funds for the payment of any compensation that may be due as a result of the trainers negligent actions.
