In February, minor road resurfacing works are being carried out on five roads in Poole and surrounding areas, as part of our regular maintenance programme.
On Tuesday 5 February, The Avenue adjacent to Buccleuch Road will see a road closure come into force from 9.30am – 4pm, with a diversion route in place. The work is necessary to repair a section of The Avenue where the road surface is breaking up and in need of urgent works to repair.
On Ashley Road, the bus layby adjacent to Co Op (eastbound side of road, between junctions of Jubilee Road and Albert Road) will be out of action for resurfacing from 7am on Thursday 7 – 7pm on Friday 8 February. The work is necessary because this very busy bus layby is heavily rutted and trial holes have shown that the damage goes deep into the road surface. As a ‘deep repair’ is being carried out, the layby will be out of action for longer to ensure the material used in the road surface has enough time to cure.
An order has been made to suspend parking in the immediately adjacent car parking bay, taxi rank and disabled parking space so buses can use this as a temporary arrangement and maintain services throughout.
Culliford Crescent, will see a road closure from Pilsdon Drive to Knowlton Road on Monday 18 and Tuesday 19 February from 7.30am to 5pm daily. The Morebus vehicles will be using the junction of Walditch Gardens as a turning area so there will be a service for the western half of Culliford Crescent. The closure is to resurface the carriageway and to repair / investigate a trench crossing nearby. These have been planned over half term, to minimise impact to road users.
A road closure in Rempstone Road will be phased to two parts of the road on Wednesday 20 – Saturday 23 February between 7.30-5pm. The work is targeted on two areas at the north end (Merley Gardens to Cul-de-sac Nos 48 to 98) and south end (Queen Anne Drive to Cul-de-sac Nos 198 to 300). One end of the road will remain open as the work will be done in phases, but only for residents and visitors – there will be no through access
On Wednesday 27 February, the B3074 Lower Blandford Road, south bound approach to Darbys Corner will have a lane closure, with no vehicle access south of the junction at Fontmell Road from 9.30am to 4pm. This work is required to improve the skid resistance of the road surface. The junctions of side roads, including Fontmell Road and Chetwode Avenue, will remain open as usual, but there will be no left turn out of Fontmell Road.
Residents in affected roads will be advised of the details and timing of works directly.
If you travel in these areas, please allow extra time for journeys and follow signposted diversions. If using public transport, check with your bus company for any planned changes to timetabling.
