Volunteering in sport and recreation

We work in partnership with sports clubs, schools, community groups and individuals to help shape and improve community sport, facilities and events in Poole. We are always looking for volunteers to help with projects or events.

Poole festival of running

This event takes place in Poole Park every year at the end of May or beginning of June. The event is in partnership with Poole Runners and offers a variety of races for 8 years and upwards, from beginners to elite athletes.

Volunteering roles include data entry, stewarding, race day administration and route marshalling.

Poole's festival of sport

This event takes place in July to enable local sports clubs to offer taster sessions and encourage people to try a new sport.

The event takes place across a variety of sites and volunteers are needed to offer those attending information, support an activity or provide additional information to the public.

Many of Poole's sports clubs need volunteers to run. This can be anything from a minute taker at the AGM, a volunteer to support a coach taking a session, someone to run the tea stall at half time or even a treasurer to organise the accounts.

Many of the roles require little time but are invaluable to the clubs. The sports clubs can be found in the Sports Club Directory and contacted directly.

If you are interested in volunteering at any of the above opportunities, please contact the Culture Volunteer team.
