Respite policy: The provision of short term placements to provide respite to carers.
The need for respite care is covered under the wellbeing and prevention principles of The Care Act 2014 and respite is provided for the carer rather than the adult who is cared for.
All carers are entitled to a carers assessment under The Care Act and this will ascertain a person's eligibility under the act for support. A carer must be eligible for support before respite can be considered.
