Have Your Say regarding introducing car parking charges in Upton Country Park

Consultation

The consultation period for the proposed introduction of car parking charges in Upton Country Park ran from Monday 22 February 2016 until the closing date of Wednesday 6 April 2016.

Feedback and Decision

Councillors voted to introduce car parking charges at Upton Country Park from Spring 2017 at Cabinet on 14 June.

Over 1,200 people responded to this consultation and their feedback has led to the original proposals being amended:

  • the fee structure will be simplified by merging weekend and peak times
  • the price of an annual permit will be reduced from £50 to £40
  • a two hour rate will be introduced

The money raised through car parking fees will go directly towards supporting the Park enabling it to become self-financing in the future.
