Steps you can follow to prepare for an emergency:

Preparation for flooding

Steps you can follow to prepare for flooding:

  • read advice on planning, managing and recovering from a flood
  • prepare you home to be resilient to flooding
  • read information about resilient repairs to your home
  • find out what to expect from your insurer if you are flooded

One of the best ways to prepare for an emergency is to plan with other people. Read more information on how you can get involved with your community's resilience.

Community resilience is part of building a resilient society to ensure businesses and communities are better prepared for, and able to recover from, emergencies and disruptions such as severe weather.

We support and encourage individuals and communities to be better prepared and more self-reliant during emergencies. This allows us to focus on vulnerable people and areas.

As part of our planning, we have identified 29 evacuation centres throughout Poole that can be used in an emergency. These community buildings provide a safe place to shelter; we will provide drinks, snacks and meals, depending on the length of time you are there. Staff will give you information on the emergency and support you during your stay.
