Zero Waste Cooking Workshops

We’re looking for 45 Poole households to take part in our free, hands on cooking workshops aimed at helping you to save money, get healthier and reduce food waste.

Apply to take part

We have teamed up again with local chef and entrepreneur Alex De Freitas to deliver the cooking workshops. You will be taught how to cook affordable, nutritious meals whilst also learning handy tips on how to reduce food waste and use up leftovers.

By carrying out a mini food waste audit in the home at the beginning and end of the workshops, you will be able to see how much the project has made a difference to the amount of food you waste and money you spend.

The 45 households who took part last year halved their combined food waste, and reduced their combined food bill by 17%.

One person from each household will be invited to attend 2 workshops. At each workshop you’ll have the opportunity to taste what you have made and take home a delicious meal. There will also be freebies and the opportunity to win prizes.

Participants will be split into 3 groups and attend 2 workshops each:

  • Group 1: Monday 11 February 6.30pm to 8.30pm and Saturday 2 March 10am to 1.30pm
  • Group 2: Monday 18 February 6.30pm to 8.30pm and Saturday 9 March 10am to 1.30pm
  • Group 3: Monday 25 February 6.30pm to 8.30pm and Saturday 16 March 10am to 1.30pm

Applications will be open from 7 to 27 January 2019. Successful participants will be contacted on 1 February 2019.
