In July 2016 there was a trial partial road closure in Poole Park. Vehicle access was restricted to limit the effect of afternoon through traffic.
The results of the road closure trial will be assessed and a report for full council will be presented some time in the Autumn.
The Poole Park Life project is in it's development phase. In two phases in 2016 we consulted on these themes:
- heritage and landscape
- geese and wildlife.
The project started in 2013 when we began work on a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for approximately £2.7m to fund improvements.
The round one bid was successful and from April 2015 we have been using the HLF funding to develop the ideas and proposals.
The project has five themes for improvements based on what people have told us and what we know requires improving in Poole park:
- the lake and park drainage
- play and play landscapes
- renovating and restoring heritage landscapes
- traffic, pedestrian and cycle movements
- geese and wildfowl.

The feedback from the April consultation phase is available to view on the project website, including the questionnaire responses and a design review document, which outlines the feedback and changes made to design proposals.
Generally the design proposals were well received and specific factors have been considered in the design review.
The July and August consultation feedback will be recorded and published in the same way in September.
All of the consultation results play a key part in evidencing to the HLF that the public are supportive of the proposals and the use of their funds.
We will find out if we are successful in July 2017.
