Cllr John Rampton, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for the Environment, Borough of Poole, said: “The council takes the illegal damage to trees very seriously and we are urging local residents to contact us if they know anything about this incident. Not only is this illegal, it is also anti-social and harmful to the environment. We will very shortly be in the nesting season when this sort of damage is especially detrimental.”
Cllr Mike Brooke, Ward Member for Broadstone, said: "I hope the tree survives this unwarranted and excessive pruning. It was maturing into a very attractive feature that had a positive impact upon the street scene. It will be a great pity if it is lost totally."
Investigations into an incident are ongoing and the council is appealing for anyone with information to contact Andy Dearing on 01202 633316 or e-mail email@example.com. Any person coming forward with information will be treated in the strictest confidence.
