Planning application registered for new beach huts

Borough of Poole’s Culture and Community Learning unit has submitted five panning applications for new seafront facilities and beach huts in Poole.

The planning applications, which have been formally registered by Borough of Poole’s Planning department, are to provide 97 additional new beach huts at Flaghead Chine (4), Branksome Dene Chine (4) and Canford Cliffs (89) beaches.  The scheme would also rebuild 102 dated concrete huts and refurbish a further 22 huts.   5 different new hut sizes & types are planned to offer the public a wider choice and the scheme also proposes the enhancement of public facilities such as a new café and improved accessibility and toilets.

The improvements are being implemented to support delivery of the Council’s Supplementary Planning Document, ‘Sustaining Poole’s Seafront’, which sets out how the Borough of Poole plans to conserve, improve and invest in Poole’s seafront and beaches.

Kevin McErlane, Head of Culture and Community Learning at the Borough, said: “Enabling the development of new seafront facilities and beach huts in Poole will bring investment in the seafront infrastructure, meet some of the strong public demand for huts and provide much needed additional income to support wider Council services.  Subject to planning permission, we aim to start construction in September 2017 with the works taking up to 9 months to complete.”
