4 Feb 10Tree works on Gravel Hill
Emergency tree works will be carried out on the A349 Gravel Hill road in Poole on Sunday, 7 February, 2010.
Stop/go signs will be in place on a section of the road between the junction with Arrowsmith Road to Queen Anne Drive and Delph Woods from 9am to 4.30pm to allow the safe felling of the trees. Both directions of traffic will need to be stopped when the trees are felled.
A recent inspection of trees near the entrance to Delph Woods, adjacent to the highway, revealed that three trees have become structurally unsafe and need to be removed.
The work will also require power lines alongside the road to be disconnected and lowered to the ground. Scottish and Southern Electricity will be attending on Sunday to undertake this work.
Cllr Peter Adams, Cabinet Portfolio Holder for Leisure and Culture, Borough of Poole, said: "It is vital that these works are carried out and this will cause some disruption to traffic on this road for a short period of time. We apologise for any inconvenience caused and hope to minimise any disruption to residents while power lines are disconnected."
