About our services

Our vision is that every child and young person should be given the opportunity to visit a library with their school to see the wealth of books we have to support their learning and reading for pleasure.

Class visits for up to year 6

Get to know your library’ (up to Year 6) duration approximately 45 minutes.

This is an introduction to the library, including a story and an opportunity for children to choose books to borrow on individual or class tickets. Repeat visits are welcome to return and choose books. Our Library Assistants deliver these sessions.

Class visits for Years 7-13 and Special Schools

Our Libraries Literacy Officers will host sessions for Year 7 and above and Special Schools’ classes, and are happy to discuss your particular needs.

If you would like to arrange a class visit to a Poole library please telephone: 01202 262449 or email libraries@poole.gov.uk

Booktime

Booktime is a collaboration between Pearson publishers and Booktrust. All schools will receive their Booktime packs by courier and are invited arrange visits from the Literacy Officers to gift packs.
