The role of the Poole Learning Disability Partnership Board (LDPB) is to improve the lives of people with learning disabilities in the Poole area by:
promoting their independence, choice, rights and inclusion
making sure they are treated as equal citizens with access to mainstream services such as health, housing, employment and education
making sure outside bodies consult with the LDPB as their main source of information when planning and making decisions that affect the lives of people with learning disabilities.
The Poole LDPB is chaired jointly by Borough of Poole's Head of Service for Commissioning and Improvement - People Services and an adult with a learning disability supported by Poole Forum. The adults with a learning disability take turns to co-chair the meetings. The LDPB meets every two months.

The Big Plan 2012 - 2015 has been published. The Big Plan has been produced as an easy read document. It is accompanied by a Work Plan for the next 3 years, and a more detailed appendix report called The Big Plan - Extra Information.
Work has started on a Pan Dorset Big Plan for 2017 and beyond. The Big Plan will be for Bournemouth, Dorset and Poole.

Safe Places in Poole is organised by Poole Forum. Many businesses in Poole have signed up to the Safe Places scheme to help people with learning disabilities should they feel in danger, lost or unwell.
The scheme that makes sure staff offer support to people with learning disabilities when they ask for help. These venues across Poole offer a refuge by displaying the 'Safe Place' sticker in their window.
