They must be in need of some kind of care and support and would benefit from the facilities offered. They should also be able to cope with the independent living aspects of the scheme. Applicants may be frail or permanently disabled or may, for example, have some memory loss. They may experience depression or other mental illness or have a degree of learning disability.

Delphis Court, Poole Town Centre
This development in Avenel Way, Poole consists of 45 one and two bedroom apartments. These are spacious independent homes with their own front door, within a community, that are designed to meet the needs of both active and less active people who require care and support associated with ageing or those with lifelong disabilities. If needed, care and support will be available 24-hours a day, 7 days a week, and there is a scheme manager on site.
All private and communal areas have pull cords linked to a care line to ensure residents' safety at all times. These homes provide an adaptable environment meeting the changing needs of residents. The development is within level walking distance of the Dolphin Centre, the Quay and buses/trains. All flats have a fitted kitchen, walk-in shower, central heating, double glazing, and good storage.
Facilities include: meals (should residents require them), communal lounges, communal dining room, hairdressing room, fully equipped assisted bathrooms (in addition to the bathroom in each household's flat), guest room, lifts, handrails, wide corridors for those using wheelchairs, laundry service and mobility scooter storeroom.
16 of the flats at Delphis court are 2 bed-roomed and there is a minimum household size of two for these homes. This might be, for example, an applicant and their carer, or a household with an older child who needs support. Evidence of this need should be supported by a Medical Practitioner, or Social Worker/Care Manager.
Belmont Court, Parkstone
Belmont Court is a sheltered scheme with significant specialist facilities and enhanced staffing arrangements. It consists of 35 one-bedroom flats and one two-bedroom bungalow. 21 of the flats are very sheltered properties for people who need extra tenancy support, and the remaining 14 and the bungalow are let as standard sheltered housing.
The scheme is situated off Glen Road in Parkstone and is managed by Poole Housing Partnership which also mangages the 30 other Council-owned sheltered schemes in Poole. The original building was refurbished and extended in 1990.
Facilities include: member of staff on duty 24-hours a day, communal lounge, dining room and kitchen, Parker bathroom, communal shower room, laundry room, hairdresser/chiropody room, guest room, lift to all flats, door entry system for main front door, office on site, communal gardens, private car park, and mobility scooter storage.
Trinidad Extra Care Village
The new development of the Trinidad extra care Village will provide much-needed extra care housing in Poole, as well as becoming a focal point for the Rossmore community. Plans include a central courtyard with seating areas, landscaped gardens and terraces which will provide a relaxing environment for residents to enjoy. Residents and the local community will also benefit from brand new, state-of-the-art facilities, including restaurant, spa and beauty salon. An attractive entrance will welcome visitors to the site, which will be easily accessible for all.
The Local Lettings Plan states that to be eligible applicants must be on the Housing Register and over 18.

We prioritise applicants who currently live in Poole and we consider the security of their current living situation. We also prioritise those with more need for the attributes of these schemes, for example, those already receiving care. Applicants with degenerative conditions where a move to the scheme could prolong independent living are prioritised along with those who are vulnerable, or at risk in their situation. People who are currently under-occupying social housing in Poole are also prioritised, providing they meet the other eligibility criteria.
A panel of representatives from Housing and Community Services and Adult Social Commissioning assess applicants who want to be offered a property on these developments. They follow the Local Lettings Plan for each scheme which sets out the eligibility for the scheme and how applicants will be prioritised.
All vacancies will be advertised according to their property type on Dorset Homechoice (as either standard sheltered accommodation or very sheltered) in accordance with the Allocations Policy and Local Lettings Plan.
